‘The Song of Sparrows’ to air on ifilm

ifilm is set to bring to its audiences around the world an award-winning weekend treat directed by Majid Majidi.

‘The Song of Sparrows’ is the movie title that will be aired on ifilm April 06, 2019. The film will hit the air at 22:00 GMT on Saturday evening and the repeats will screen the next day at 04:00, 10:00 and 16:00 all GMT times.

A brief synopsis of Majidi’s film reads, ‘Karim is a simple man with a simple life who works on an ostrich farm to support his family in a small village. All of a sudden he loses his job after letting one of the valuable ostriches escape.

Desperate to find any kind of job in order to make ends meet, Karim sets out on his motorcycle to Tehran. But as the charm of the metropolitan takes its hold on Karim, he begins to lose sight of what matters most.’

The film has won several awards and nominations, including the Jury prize at the 2008 Damascus International Film Festival in Syria.

Reza Naji, the star of the flick grabbed the Silver Bear award for Best Actor in a Leading Role from the 2008 Berlin International Film Festival in Germany. The same festival picked Majidi as a nominee to receive Best Director Award.
